50 sheds gutted in Jhapa refugee camp

Damak, November 9:

At least 50 sheds of refugees were devastated in a fire that engulfed the Damak-based Bhutanese refugee camp in Beldangi this evening.

The flames reportedly started during cooking of food in Hem Lal Timallsina’s house no 94-95 at sector A One at 7:10 pm. According to police inspector at the Damak area police office, Govinda Raj Kafle, 10 sheds were demolished for dousing the fire. Security personnel from the base camp of Beldangi-based armed police forces were mobilised to douse the fire.

Police inspector Kafle said the details of the damage have not been received. Security personnel from the APF Pathebhara battalion were also mobilised to douse the fire.
