540 cases lodged with TRC Lamjung

Truth and Reconciliation Commission Lamjung has received as many as 540 complaints since April 15 this year.

Peace Committee Lamjung office Secretary Kiran Lamichhane said that the office received the complaints from April 17 to the first week of July.

Similarly, the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons has received 25 complaints so far. “Though a huge amount of government and private property was damaged during the decade long insurgency in Lamjung, nobody has come to lodge complaint at the office till now,” said Lamichhane.

The families of victims can lodge complaints at TRC till July 16 whereas at the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons complaints can be lodged till until July 15, according to the Peace Committee of the district.

The families of 16 disappeared persons have received some relief. Of them, 15 have received Rs 5 lakh relief, whereas one family has received Rs 4.75 lakh.

As many as 149 persons were killed from the state and rebellious armies during insurgency era in the district.
