59-year-old woman murdered in Lamjung

LAMJUNG: A woman was found dead in her house covered in wounds in Madhya Nepal Municipality-1 of Lamjung district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Damanti Ghimire of Nibuwatari in Jita village located within the municipality.

On Thursday afternoon, a neighbour found Ghimire's body while trying to scare a monkey away that had entered her house. The door to her residence was open.

Her body was found covered in blood with multiple injuries, after which locals immediately informed the police, said ward chair Chandramani Poudel.

"Serious injuries had been inflicted on the victim's head, face and neck while one of her hands and a finger had been fractured," further informed Poudel.

Preliminary investigation at the incident site points that Ghimire was murdered, stated Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yadav Dhakal of Lamjung District Police Office. Further investigation into the case is underway.

Ghimire had been living alone. She had no children and was separated from her husband who resides abroad.
