6 including groom's parents killed in Dang jeep accident, 3 injured

DANG: As many as six persons died on the spot after the Scorpio Jeep they were travelling on collided with a bus in Lamahi Municipality-9 of Dang district on Thursday night.

The jeep carrying wedding attendees, including the groom's parents, was returning to Shumshergunj of Banke after completing the wedding ceremony at the bride's home in Gitanagar, Chitwan. It has been learnt that the bride and groom were travelling in another vehicle.

The deceased have been identified as the parents of groom Man Bahadur KC (53), and Bimala Khatri (45), Prabin KC (5), Bishwanath Adhikari (49), Dipak Kumar Khadka (31), all of Raptisonari Rural Municipality-8 in Banke district; and Dutta Bahadur Khati (78) of Kohalpur Municipality-12 in Banke district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the jeep (Ba 12 Cha 3122) collided-head on with the bus (Na 5 Kha 4090) en route from Mahendranagar to Kathmandu in Rihar at 1: 45 am today, killing six and injuring three including the driver. The groom's parents also lost their lives in the accident.

The injured have been undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Medical College, informed police.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
