KATHMANDU: At a time when the whole country is grieving the brutal rape and murder of Nirmala Panta and there is a public outcry for justice, another child has been raped in the district of Rolpa.

A six-year-old girl has been the victim of this atrocious crime yet again. A 16-year-old teenager, known to be the child's relative, has been arrested by the police on the charge of raping the minor.

According to District Police Office, Rolpa, the complaint was filed by the victim's family, following which the accused was taken into custody yesterday. It has been learnt that the incident occurred 11 days ago, however, it only came to light recently.

Medical examinations conducted on the child indicated that she had been raped.

Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
