Nepalgunj, April 15:

Seven houses at Naya Basti of Khaskusma and Gannapur VDCs of Banke district were gutted last evening.

Five houses at Naya Basti and two houses at Gannapur were destroyed at the same time. The fire began at 5.30 pm and its cause is yet to be ascertained. There were no casualities but property worth a million rupees was gutted.

The village development committe is located 72 km towards the east of the district while Gannapur VDC is situated 10 km away from Nepalgunj. The fire brigade had a tough time controlling the fire, said Ashok Kalwar, a fireman.

The houses of Kale Kumal, Lal Kumal, Bhim Kumal, Tara Kumal and Jyoti Kumal have been gutted.
