7 parties rally against regression

Dhankuta, September 2:

Seven agitating parties took out a rally against regression here today. The rally started from CPN-UML party office and turned into a corner meet at Madan Chowk. The participants chanted slogans against monarchy. Addressing the corner meet, secretary of UML Koshi Zonal Coordination Committee, Rajendra Gautam, said the seven-party agitation would continue till the king’s autocratic rule ends. Chairman of NC-D, Dhankuta, Manohar Narayan Shrestha and Jana Morcha Nepal, Dhankuta member Gopal Biswokarma also voiced their opinions.

In Gaighat the central president of the CPN (Marxist), Prabhu Narayan Chaudhary, has said all parties should make a decision to go for elections to the constituent assembly to solve the insurgency. Addressing a two-day regional meeting of party cadres today, he said parties’ double standards is to blame for the stalemate. “The parties won’t be able to defeat regression if they fail to change themselves.” Lok Narayan Subedi said the stir has so far failed to weaken regression.
