7 SLC examinees held, freed

Nawalparasi, April 8:

Police arrested seven SLC examinees from an exam centre in Pawan Secondary School in Parasi today on the charge of creating anarchy and cheating.

The students began their bedlam after they were told by invigilators to abide by the rules and not cheat during the examination.

The police arrested the seven examinees after they tore up their answer copies in disappointment and created anarchy inside the examination hall.

The seven taken into custody are Keshav Basnet, Devendra Karki, Kamal Neupane, Laxman Neupane, Dinesh Thapa, Govinda Sharma and Basmati Chaudhary. All of them are private SLC examinees.

They were released later in the evening.

Deputy superintendent of police Govinda Niraula said all of them were brought to the district police office and made to write their examination there.

Meanwhile, in Inaruwa, police used force to disperse crowds trying to pass ‘chits’ to SLC examinees at two centres, RSS reported.

The District Education Office, Sunsari, said police baton-charged people at the Sarada Higher Secondary School at Inarwa-9 and at the Rajaji Ramji Secondary School, Inaruwa.
