80pc work complete on Dordi River Hydel Project

LAMJUNG: About 80 per cent construction works have been completed on the 27-megawatts Dordi River Hydropower Project in Lamjung district.

According to Guru Prasad Dhakal, Executive Director of Himalayan Power Partner Limited -- promoter company of the hydropower project, construction of a power-house, dam and tunnel has reached the final stage. Dhakal stated that these tasks would be completed by mid-April.

Likewise, he shared that in addition to the tunnel, 2,600-metre penstock pipe would also be laid for the project, the work for which is going on.

With the construction works catching pace, it is expected that the project will start generating electricity by August-September 2019.

As indicated by the project, construction is expected to complete within the current fiscal year and electromechanical equipment would be fitted after completion of infrastructure construction.

Electricity generation would begin after about two months of necessary inspection and other preliminary works.
