LAMJUNG: An 82-year-old man was arrested on charge of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in Neta of Lamjung district in western Nepal.

The Lamjung District Police Office identified the suspect as Shamsher Pariyar.

The octogenarian took the victim, who was returning home from school, to a community building in the village and molested her on Friday, according to police.

Police arrested him after the victim's family lodged a complaint against Pariyar the same day.

He has been kept in the custody of the District Police Office for investigation.

Pariyar has confessed his crime, Sub-Inspector Himal KC said.

The victim was sent to a hospital for medical examinations. Medical report showed that her private parts had injury marks.
