835 benefit from free health camp

As many as 835 people from the remote areas of Udayapur district benefited from a twoday free health camp organised on the premises of Rasuwa Secondary School.

The health camp was organised at the initiative of Rautamai Rural Municipality.

Of the total persons who visited the health camp, 135 were referred to health facilities after preliminary check-up.

Chairperson of the rural municipality Gajendra Bahadur Khadka said various health services, including parturition, orthopaedic, neuro and general surgeries, were available at the health camp.

Besides health check-up services, the health camp also provided free counselling and medicines and the people really benefited from these services.

The camp was organised in coordination with Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation, and it was technically supported by Birat Medical College Teaching Hospital.

Locals from Rautamai, Limchungbung and Tapli, among other villages, visited the health camp.

According to Khadka, female patients also visited the camp in large numbers as there were many female doctors and health staffers offering services at the camp.

Vice-chairperson of the rural municipality Kumari Jyu Thakuri said that most of the women, who visited the camp, had come with uterus related problems. She further said that the health camp was organised with the aim of providing free health services to people from backward and impoverished communities who could not pay for their health needs.
