Banke agricultural official caught red-handed with bribe

KATHMANDU: An agricultural officer based in Banke district has been caught red-handed while taking a bribe from a contractor on Friday.

A team deployed from the Commission for the investigation of Abuse of Authority arrested Birendra Kumar Yadav, Technical Officer of the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Khajura, Banke with the kickback money of Rs 250,000.

Yadav was arrested after a receiving a tip-off that Yadav had sought bribe from the contractor and he was receiving it today.

Earlier, the anti-grant constitutional body had received a complaint that he had sought the bribe to release payment to the contractor though works related to expansion of deep boring and electricity transmission line were already over.
