RAUTAHAT: Nepal Police arrested an absconding murder suspect from Rautahat on Tuesday.

The Rautahat District Police Office identified the arrestee as Gajendra Raut Kurmi (34) of Karuniya VDC-5.

Acting on a tip-off, a team was deployed from the DPO to arrest him.

After his arrest, Kurmi was presented before the Rautahat District Court, which remanded him in police custody for seven days.

According to police, Kurmi had engaged in a fatal fight with Basudev Raut Kurmi of Karuniya VDC on August 7, 2014. After the latter succumbed to injuries on September 14, Kurmi had fled the village.

One held for rape attempt

Meanwhile, police arrested one Jagannath Ray Yadav (35) of Mudawalwa VDC-4 for allegedly trying to rape a woman

The suspect had forced the victim to open the door of her room and attempted to rape her.

Yadav was presented before the court.
