Accountant, non-gazetted officer caught red-handed with bribe

BIRGUNJ: A government accountant and a non-gazetted officer of Dhobeni Rural Municipality in Parsa district have been arrested red-handed while taking bribe from service seeker today, CIAA said.

An anti-graft team deployed from Makwanpur apprehended accountant Krishna Nandan Raya and non-gazetted officer Ainamul Haq Ansari while taking Rs 110,000 cash as a kickback from a contractor at a rented room in Pipara of Birjung Metropolitan City-14 on Friday.

Earlier, the accountant had demanded commission of Rs 40,000 and Rs 70,000 for the disbursement of funds after completion of wall upgradation of Sansari Mai Temple and concrete pavement along the road in the district.

"Contractors were hustling and bustling for a month to recover their contract amount after completion of the projects," CIAA official said on condition of anonymity, adding, "CIAA was alerted after the accountant had demanded commission for reimbursement of funds."
