‘Conflict-hit’ security men enforce bandh
Nepalgunj, March 28:
The three-day of bandh called by conflict-hit former security personnel affected normal life in Banke district today, the first day of the bandh. The ex-security personnel have been demanding that they be reinstated unconditionally.
One ex-security personnel was injured when the agitators clashed with policemen at Kohalpur. Bishnu Oli was injured in the clash, the police said. The agitators also obstructed the East-West Highway in Kohalpur. Vehicles bound for several destinations stayed off the road and passengers stranded at several places.
Meanwhile, a report from Dhangadi said the agitators set ablaze a vehicle and vandalised three other vehicles in Kailali district. Passengers bound to different destinations from Kailali and Kanchapur were stranded due to the bandh.
A report from Dang said the bandh called by ex-security personnel affected normal life in the district. Transport services, educational sector, industries and markets were closed. Hundreds of passengers were forced to walk on foot due to the bandh.
RSS reported that the former security personnel, who deserted their jobs during the conflict period, enforced a bandh in Nawalparasi. Transport services and bazaars remained closed. They also staged demonstrations in Basa and Bardaghat.
In Kadama of Siraha, the former security personnel torched a truck for defying their bandh.
