‘Killer’s’ remand extended

Pokhara, October 15 :

The Kaski District Court today ruled that Jal Bahadur Gurung, arrested on the charge of pushing two children of a family into the Seti river, be kept in custody for 19 more days.

A case of rape and attempted murder has been filed against Gurung in the court. He was produced in the court today. Subsequently, the court extended his remand. The Kaski District Police Office (DPO) said that earlier the court had remanded Gurung in five days’ custody.

A week has passed since the incident but the missing boy, Purna Prasad Gaudel (10), has not been found. His sister Mamata (8) is undergoing treatment in the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara.

Students of Tal Barahi Secondary School, where Purna and Mamata were studying, have threatened to hold a demonstration again if action against Gurung is not taken soon. The DPO said the search for the missing boy is still on.
