‘Let people decide on King’
Rupandehi, August 13 :
Chief of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party, Narayan Man Bijukchhe, today said a referendum should be held to decide the fate of monarchy in Nepal.
“Decision on whether there should be a ceremonial King or a republican set up should be decided by referendum and not by the government and parliament,” Bijukchhe said wh-ile addressing a press meet organised by Reporters’ Club Nepal, Butwal. He said, adding that the slogan of ceremonial King was an obstinacy on the part of the Nepali Congress. He suspected that the Maoists have also “agreed” provision of ceremonial King.
“Parliament should not be dissolved immediately as this will make the government weak,” he said.
