‘Dead’ daughter found alive, man returns relief sum
JAJARKOT: Karna Bahadur BK, who had taken relief amount from District Administration Office ten days ago claiming that his daughter had died of diarrhoea, is returning the cash after the revelation that his daughter was, in fact, alive.
A resident of Dhime VDC-2, BK, saying that his five-year-old daughter had died of the disease last month, had got the certification of her birth and death dates and kinship from the VDC. He took the relief from District Police Office Jajarkot.
The DAO, following a complaint, sought his clarification while BK conceded the truth, said CDO Ganesh Prasad Aryal. BK reportedly told him that he was ready to return the money. The officer said the VDC employees had also made a mistake in the matter.
The relief amount has been distributed to 95 kin of the deceased in the district. Meanwhile, Hari Bahadur Khatri, 51, a resident of Kortang VDC 6, died of diarrhoea today.
According to the DAO, the death toll has reached 236 in the district. The number of camps has been reduced to six from the 41 after the falling deaths.
