‘UML coalition’s days numbered’
DAMAK: Senior leader of UCPN-Maoist CP Gajurel today claimed that the incumbent government led by CPN-UML would topple soon.
Speaking at an interaction organised by Maoist-affiliated Revolutionary Journalists’ Union at Damak of Jhapa, he said the government was dead but was awaiting the declaration.
“Some of the leaders of the Nepali Congress and UML have started asking about the formation of Maoist-led government,’’ he claimed.
Like his seniors, he also did not miss to mention that their slated protest after Tihar would correct the President’s move and to establish people’s supremacy.
He also predicted that it would take maximum
of 10 months to promulgate the new constitution
if the political parties forged consensus.
Talking to journalists in Itahari of Sunsari on the same day, Gajurel claimed that the discussion held between the senior NC and Maoist leaders at the
residence of former chief secretary Lokman Singh
Karki on Sunday was
focused on forming the new government.
“The meeting between NC president Koirala and Prachanda was as per the party’s policy.’’
Gajurel also asserted that the NC president Koirala himself was in favour of changing the government.
“The present government is still in place just as
our party doesn’t want
to join this government
until the establishment of peoples’ supremacy,” he said. He also ruled out possibility of the formation of the government under the leadership of UML.
He warned of stringent protests if the other
parties denied discussing the Maoists-raised demands in a package.
