Afforestation campaign kicks off in Rautahat

Rautahat, November 29

Rautahat District Administration has started an afforestation drive at the roadsides of the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section.

The drive was launched acting on a decision after a discussion held under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Narahari Baral in the presence of representatives of Gaur Municipality, the District Forest Office, Road Office, and the District Security Committee.

During the discussion there were complaints of unauthorised structures built along the road, and their impact on road traffic. It was decided that the structures would be pulled down and trees planted instead.

Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepali Army personnel, with the initiative of the CDO have started digging pits to plant trees from BP Chowk of Gaur today.

The administration has marked the unauthorised structures, and given the owners a deadline of one week to remove them on their own.
