Aggrieved students mar VDC council meeting
Palpa, February 27:
Students in eastern Palpa today gheraoed the village council meeting of Bakamlang Village Development Committee, accusing the authorities of not allocating budget to establish a higher secondary school in the VDC.
The village council meeting was disrupted after around 600 students of Radha Krishna Secondary School locked the local political leaders and representatives of different organisations inside the meeting hall.
The enraged students gheraoed the VDC office after they came to know that the representatives of the Unified CPN-Maoist refused to allocate budget for the school to upgrade it into a higher secondary school.
According to Village Development Committee secretary Devendra Kunwar, the problem arose after the participants could not agree on allocating budget for the school. “The council meeting has been postponed after the participants failed to agree on budget allocation issues,” Kunwar said.
