Agitation throws Humla life out of gear

HUMLA: People’s agitation going on for the past ten days in Humla demanding a separate Karnali state in the federal set-up has thrown the public life out of gear.

District-level leaders representing various political parties have continued to enforce the shutdown (bandh) in the district and picket the District Administration Office Humla turn-by-turn.

Nepali Congress district president Jayapati Rokaya, UML vice-chair Gyami Bumi, RPP-Nepal central member Birkha Bahadur Mahat, RPP chair Nainsingh Rawat and UCPN-Maoist’s Karchen Lama are on the forefront of the agitation.

The prolonged agitation had led to food shortage in the district, said Nepal Food Corporation Humla depot chief Narayan Singh KC.
