Air service to be made more effective: Adhikari

Pokhara, February 5

Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari said the government was planning effective management of air services.

Speaking at a programme organised to mark the 16th anniversary of International Mountaineering Museum in Pokhara today, Minister Adhikari held that air service had to be managed effectively for development of the tourism sector. “The service had to be made accessible and affordable with the demand of time as tourists expected cheaper services,” he added.

Minister Adhikari said upgradation of Tribhuvan International Airport was under way. He said night air flights to Dhangadi, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Simara and Biratnagar, among other airports, were in operation and the service would be expanded to Janakpur in the future. He said night air service could not be operated in Pokhara airport due to technical problems. Adhikari informed that night air service in Pokhara would start after the operation of Pokhara International Regional Airport.

Minister Adhikari said Nepal Mountaineering Association had to play a significant role to make Visit Nepal Year 2020 a success.
