Alternate site being considered for Maoist camp

Chitwan, November 19:

Kalikadanda of Shaktokhor-9 in Chitwan is being considered as the site for setting up a camp of the Maoists. Earlier, Kamidanda in Kavre had been chosen as the camp site. A tripartite team of the UN, the government and security forces and the Maoists today inspected the site that lies 12 km north of Ratnanagar the East-West Highway in Chitwan.

“If the site is considered as the appropriate one to establish the camp, a decision will be taken by tonight,” said joint secretary at the Home Ministry Durga Nidhi Sharma. Kalikadanda is being considered after the UN team declared that Kavre’s Kamidanda was not an appropriate site for establishing the camp.

A report from Palpa said, the tripartite team of the UN, the government and the Maoists today re-inspected Chulimulidanda of Humin-1 in Palpa that has been proposed as a probable Maoist army camp site. The team had inspected the site last Monday. No reason was given as to why the site was inspected again.

Around 17 persons, including a Maoist military commander, UN and government officials were part of the team.
