Ambassador Udas pays courtesy call on Myanmar House Speaker

KATHMANDU: Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar Bhim Udas paid a courtesy call on U Win Myint, Speaker of the House of Representatives, called as Pyithu Hluttaw in the parliament of Myanmar at Nay Pyi Taw, said a press release issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Myanmar.

On the occasion, House Speaker Myint welcomed Ambassador Udas and stated that friendly and cordial relationship existed between Nepal and Myanmar for centuries. He also wished for successful tenure of Ambassador Udas in Myanmar.

Similarly, Ambassador Udas thanked the Speaker and recalled the assistance and support provided by the government of Myanmar (then Burma) in Nepal's fight for democracy in 1950, added the press release.

He said that both the countries need to work together to enhance the cordial and friendly relations that existed since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960.

The exchange of the parliamentarians would help developing further relations.

Furthermore, Ambassador Udas said that the government of Nepal was keen to work with Myanmar on economic cooperation particularly in the field of tourism, trade and investment.
