Ananta gives new govt three months

POKHARA: Central secretariat member of the Unified CPN-Maoist Barsaman Pun ‘Ananta’ today predicted that the government led by Madhav Kumar Nepal will fall within months.

Inaugurating the second district conference of the Kaski chapter of the Nepal Magar Rastriya Mukti Morcha in Pokhara today, he claimed that the tenure of the government, which is against the interim constitution, civilian supremacy and the democracy, would be just three months. “The Maoists would protest against the government from the streets and the parliament,” he said, adding, “Until the President’s move is corrected, our protest will continue.” He said a government under the President and military rule flouts democratic norms. A government that took shape under international pressure cannot represent Nepali people, he said. Ananta clarified that the Maoists would protest against the government and were not against the peace process.

He added that the main objective of Jana Andolan II was to draft constitution, establish peace and a republican state. “The Maoists will keep this in mind and help draft constitution for the people,” he said.

Young Communist League chairman Ganeshman Pun also predicted short tenure for the Nepal-led government. He accused the President of undermining the supremacy of Nepali people.
