ANFA President Sherpa accused of rigging election
KATHMANDU: Four district football association chairpersons accused All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Karma Tsering Sherpa of electoral fraud furnishing an audiotape as evidence today.
During a press meet, district football association chairpersons, Birat Jung Shahi of Kathmandu, Gautam Sujakha of Bhaktapur, Purushottam Thapa of Lalitpur and Deepak Khatiwada of Dhading presented evidence of electoral fraud against Sherpa on May 05 ANFA election.
In the statement, they said, "We have furnished evidence of electoral fraud against FIFA, AFC code of conduct and Nepali law."
They have also accused Sherpa of influencing election committee and judiciary with money. Likewise, they also pointed against Sherpa of bearing financial expenses of all voters while taking them to close camps in various parts of India before the election.
Similarly, they also accused Sherpa and his close aide Pankaj Bikram Newang of passing death threats to members of the election committee.
Although we raised a voice against sending a foreigner, Nabin Pandey, as representative of Nepal in FIFA Congress, irregularities in selling FIFA World Cup 2018 tickets allocated to Nepal and registered complaints at the Sports Council and Ministry of Youth and Sports, the concerned authorities are yet to take action against the culprits, the statement read.
"Their silence could raise doubt about their involvement in the irregularities and we appeal to the concerned authority to take the issue seriously," Chairpersons said.
