ANNISU-R men thrash Palpa NC chairman

Palpa, December 28:

Activists of the Maoists’ student organisation — All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) — this afternoon thrashed Palpa district chairman of the Nepali Congress Rajan Prasad Panta while he was leading a team to meet the Tribhuvan Multiple Campus chief.

Panta, who was hit in the head, is undergoing treatment in Mission Hospital, Tansen.

According to eyewitnesses, students affiliated with the ANNISU-R attacked the NC team while it was heading to complain to the campus administration that their slogans on the college premises were erased by students affiliated with the ANNISU-R. After thrashing Pant, the ANNISU-R students broke the lock of Free Students’ Union president’s chamber and erased all quotations painted in the room.

The situation was brought under control only after mobilising security personnel in district headquarters Tansen, said Palpa police chief Pawan Kumar Giri.

Meanwhile, students affiliated with the ANNISU-R said the quotations were erased as per the agreements among all students’ organisations. However, the Nepal Students’ Union maintained that the agreement was made to erase only the political quotations.

Young Communist League cadres, a few days ago, had also roughed up FSU president Motilal Bhandary.
