ANNISU-R rally to ‘wake up PM’

Kathmandu, September 26:

The student-wing of the CPN-Maoist today organised a whistle rally in Kathmandu to “wake up” Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, saying that the PM is “always sleeping” at Baluwatar.

Students affiliated to the All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) carried a big bell weighing some 50 kg “to wake up” PM Koirala accusing him of being “Kumbhakarna”.

The rally began at Ratna Park and went through Putalisadak, Pradarsani Marga, Shahid Gate, New Road, Indrachowk, Ason and converged into a meeting at Bhotahity. The protesters urged the government to meet the Maoists’ 22-point demands put forth by the Maoists for conducting the “actual CA polls”. Addressing the mass meet at Bhotahity, ANNISU-R president Lekhnath Neupane said they will intensify their protest if the government fails to declare Nepal a republic through the parliament and adopt fully proportional representation system in the CA polls.
