ANNISU-R starts deusi-bhailo after 12 years

Kathmandu, October 22:

After a gap of 12 years, the students wing of CPN Maoist - All Nepal National Independent Students Union- Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) started deusi-bhailo programme here yesterday at a function.

“It has been some 12 years that we have refrained from playing the deusi-bhailo and now we are excited to enjoy this Tihar to the fullest,” said Himal Sharma, coordinator of the Ganatantrik deusi-bhailo programme of the ANNISU-R.

“It’s a form of our movement to create awareness among the people about the conspiracy being hatched by the imperialists and autocrats”, he said.

Some 350 leaders and cadres of the Maoists’ students’ wing begun the deusi-bhailo programme from around 2 pm yesterday and the programme would continue till Monday night.

“We played at the residences of individuals, businessmen and industrialists besides people from different sectors living within the valley,” he said, adding that the union has expected to collect donations in between two and four lakhs.

He, however, said that collecting donation is not the major objective of the function.

He said whereever they reached, people have had positive response over the issues raised by the union for the sake of the nation.

Sharma, said the union is spreading the agendas set by its 17th national conference and appealing people to help Nepal make a republic through revolutionary songs and dances. “By Monday night we will reach around 80 houses to play deusi-bhailo,” he said.
