Armed Police Forced mobilised for border security in Darchula
DARCHULA: A 15-member team of Armed Police Force has been dispatched from the APF border security battalion in Darchula in order to secure the northern border, since it was reported that the Indian side constructed makeshift bridges over the Mahakali river unilaterally.
Without consensus from the Nepali side, the Indian side is reported to have constructed four bridges over the bordering river in Dopakhe, Najang Khola, Lakhanpur and Kauthala in Byas Municipality. Hence, the team left here Tuesday to secure the area in the wake of construction of the bridges, head of the battalion Ambika Prasad Joshi said.
The team led by Sub Inspector Rajendra Chand will take stock of the situation and check for any illegal activities including smuggling in the area, Joshi added.
The team will be stationed at Tinkar of Byas Municipality.
