NUWAKOT: In two separate incidents of arson attack, vehicles used by candidates contesting the upcoming local level polls were set ablaze by unidentified groups.

In Nuwakot, a group vandalised the Scorpio SUV (Ba 11 Cha 3499) owned by Ram Krishna Thapa, the Nepali Congress candidate for Shivapuri Rural Municipality Chair, and set it on fire at around 11:00 pm yesterday, said Inspector Jitendra Basnet at the District Police Office, Nuwakot.

The four-wheeler was parked in Shivalaya area of Panchakanya Rural Municiplaity-5 after being used during an election campaign. The arson attack took place at 11 pm.

Meanwhile, a jeep used in the election campaign was set ablaze in Thankre Rural Municipality of Dhading district this morning.

The jeep (Ba 9 Cha 8929) was vandalised and set ablaze at around 1:30 am today in Sangramtar. The four-wheeler was parked on the premises of the residence of Raj Kumar Poudel, a CPN-UML candidate for Ward Chair of Thankre-2.

It has been learned that a group of three persons vandalised the vehicle and sprinkled it with petrol before setting it on fire
