JHAPA: Autonomous State Council, Kochila called a day-long Jhapa bandh on Tuesday.

Except motorbikes and some emergency transportation, other vehicles and markets have been affected due to the bandh.

According to the Jhapa District Police Office, 47 buses which have been affected due to the bandh were escorted to their destination.

ASC is demanding that Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and Illam districts of east be declared as Kochila state and all the rights of Indigenous groups be included in the constitution. Though the bandh has been called in all four districts, the other districts are less severely affected.

Workers of the association had staged a torch rally a day before they announced the bandh in Mechinagar, Damak as well as in other places.
