Autopsy yet to be conducted

Himalayan News Service

KATHMANDU: The body of Ram Manohar Yadav has been lying in the morgue of TU teaching hospital since Saturday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhesh Raj Rijal of Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, said authorities concerned were in the process of conducting a post-mortem on the body.

A press release issued by THRD Alliance on Tuesday stated that the police had refused to register FIR in the case and the family sought help from rights activists to lodge FIR and conduct autopsy.

A police source in Kathmandu, however, said doctors could conduct autopsy only after the deceased’s kin filed an FIR. The source added that police were talking to family’s representatives in Kathmandu to get an autopsy conducted.
