Baglung water project in limbo
BAGLUNG: An ambitious drinking water project, the construction of which is underway here in Baglung Municipality, has been dragged into uncertainty following a debate over its water source.
The total investment in the project stands at Rs 25 crores. Asian Development Bank has provided financial assistance for the same.
Baglung City Drinking Water Consumers’ Organisation said the project might collapse in case the water cannot be fetched from Dundiyakhola water source. President of the body, KB Rana, said, “If the debate over the Dundiyakhola is not solved, the project will be halted making the Baglung residents undergo the water hardship.”
The problem persists
after the local residents living around the water source recently created obstruction. However, local residents adjoining the secondary water source at Bhundi Khola in the
border of Lekhani and Bihun VDC already agreed to provide the water.
Due to delay in the construction, the project investment has also been increased to Rs 25 crores from 20 crores. Due to the obstruction in Dundiyakhola, all the works of the
project have been obstructed. The project is unlikely in three years.
