Bail for six in fake document fraud

Six people involved in a fake citizenship scam were released on bail today, registrar of the District Court, Kaski, Devendra Poudel, said. While Tuka Raj Dhakal and Som Nath Acharya, peon and clerk of the district administration office (DAO) Kaski, were ordered to pay Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 on bail, Dhan Kaji Gurung, Pavitra Mani Adhikari, Jaya Bahadur Gurung and Dhan Prasad Gurung were ordered to pay Rs 50,000 on bail, the district court stated.

While Dhakal had stolen 480 pieces of holograms from the office and sold each piece for Rs 500, others were involved in preparing fake documents. Pashupati Sharma, administrative office of the DAO, Thaman Singh Thapa, officer of the Regional Administration Office, and DAO officer Dilli Raj Poudel were released on Sunday after each of them deposited Rs 20,000 as bail amount. Fake citizenship certificates and passports have been issued in collusion with DAO employees for two years, SP Hem Raj Bahadur Malla said. The police were able to detain the accomplices in the scam after peon Dhakal disclosed the names behind the scam on February 13. The then chief district officer Narayan Gopal Malego has also been implicated in the scam.
