Bajura’s potatoes find market in Kathmandu, Pokhara

Potatoes produced in Bajura have been exported for the first time to the cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara.

According to Min Prasad Jaisi, information officer at Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Bajura, 100 quintals potatoes produced at Dhamkane of Badimalika Municipality-7 were exported to Kathmandu and 40 quintals to Pokhara.

Agriculture Fresh Pvt Ltd exported organic potatoes produced by Dhamkane Agriculture Cooperative, Bajura, to Kathmandu and Agro Mayat Company to Pokhara. Badimalika Municipality-7 Ward Chair Dharma Raj Padhaya said the organic potatoes were exported after buying it at Rs 30 per kg.

A potato festival was organised at Bajura’s Dhamkane to promote potatoes last week. The festival was held for the first time in the district.

Chief at Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Bajura, Govinda Sijapati said the potato festival was held for the development of agriculture sector and marketisation of potatoes produced in the district.
