Bandh continues for 2nd day

BIRJUNG: The indefinite bandh called by eight organisations including Nepal Civil Servants Union, Civil Servants Association and the Local Bodies Staffers Association in Parsa as a part of their second phase of protest continued on Tuesday.

Due to the bandh Parsa, Bara and Rautahat districts have been affected. All government offices are closed in Parsa.

The agitating staffers are demanding action against the Minister and threatened to continue their protest till action is taken against Begam. They also blamed the government for not taking any action against her.

Earlier on November 10 State Minister Karima Begam slapped Parsa CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari accusing him of showing her disrespect by sending an old vehicle without an escort to receive her at Simra airport.

Six organisations affiliated with civil employees obstructed official work in Parsa and Bara DAOs from 2 pm on November 10.

Civil servants of all government offices throughout the country on November 11 went on strike to protest Begam’s assault on Bhandari.

Civil servants, who were protesting the incident, returned to their business on November 15. They had postponed their agitation for the next five days which was an ultimatum to the government to fulfill their demands.
