Bandh hits life in Biratnagar
Biratnagar, June 10:
Life in Biratnagar was crippled today due to the strikes called by five different groups.
The transport entrepreneurs obstructed traffic for the whole day today to protest the fuel price hike and lack of security.
The Madhesi rickshaw-pullers organised a protest rally and shut Biratnagar bazaar following a minor scuffle at Biratnagar bus park.
Students frustrated over lack of textbooks also shut the bazzar and obstructed the traffic.
Construction workers shut the bazaar and obstructed the traffic at Mahabir Chowk all the day. And the bereaved family of slain Rajesh Gurung also called a chakkajam for an hour at the Biratnagar-Jogbani road section demanding action against the murderers.
“No sooner the strike called by a group was called off, the other group called a strike,” said sub-inspector Geeta Pokhrel.
According to ASI Tej Bahadur Shrestha, cargo trucks were left stranded at Jogbani customs point due to the strike.
