Bandh paralyses normal life in Bara, Parsa

BIRGUNJ: Normal life in Bara and Parsa districts has been thrown out of gear due to bandh called by the Nepal Sadhbhawan Party on Saturday.

Bandh enforcers have staged demonstrations in various places of the districts.

Market places and factories have remained closed and vehicular movements have also come to a grinding halt owing to the bandh.

The general strike was called against the constitution drafting process and demarcation of federal setup, the party said.

The bandh has badly affected daily business in Birgunj, one of the major trade hubs of the country.

The Joint Democratic Madhesi Forum and the CPN-Maoist have also called bandh on Sunday and Monday.

Bandh enforcers have burnt tyres in Ghantaghar Chowk, Maisthan, Murli and Powerhouse among other places to make the strike successful.

"As the preliminary draft of the constitution brought by the four major political parties did not ensure the rights of Madhesi people, we were forced to call bandh," Shiva Prasad Patel, central member of the party informed.

Chief District Officer, Keshav Raj Ghimire informed that security has been tightened in the districts to avert untoward incidents.
