Bank accounts of community schools blocked

Damauli, October 12

Tanahun District Education Office has blocked the bank accounts of as many as 30 community schools as they failed to submit the necessary documents related to infrastructural development.

DEO sub-engineer Shambhu Poudel informed that the schools’ accounts had been blocked as they failed to submit the report of their physical development.

“Though the schools were informed that they had to submit the report by mid-July, they are yet to do so,” said Poudel. Of them, 10 schools, which were given old projects, and 20 schools with new

projects have not completed their developmental task. Though the budget meant for the schools has already been dispatched, it cannot be issued due to delay in report submission.

The office had warned that the salary of the schools’ head teachers would be blocked if they failed to submit the project completion report by mid-October.

Last year, Rs 40 million was allocated for various development projects in the district while accounts of as many as five dozen schools were blocked owing to the same reason.

District Education Officer Top Bahadur Shrestha said they were urging the schools to complete their projects as early as possible.
