Banke jeweller throws acid on worker after dispute

KATHMANDU: A jeweller was arrested after he threw acid on his worker and inflicted grievous bodily harm on him in Kohalpur Municipality of Banke district on Friday.

The owner of Krishna SunChandi Pasal at Sajha Chok of Kohalpur, 30-year-old Suraj Vishwakarma attacked Dhiraj Gotame, a craftsman at his jewellery shop, apparently after a minor dispute.

Acid for cleaning ornaments was used for the assault, according to police.

Gotame, a permanent resident of Bardaghat, Nawalparasi district, sustained burn injuries in the incident.

He has been sent to the Kathmandu-based Tilganga Eye Hospital for treatment.
