Bar Council to go to polls today

KATHMANDU: More than six thousand lawyers nationwide are casting their votes tomorrow to elect a new body of Nepal Bar Council.

According to the election coordination committee, 6,060 senior advocates and advocates across the country will cast their votes to elect five councillors for as many development regions. The lawyers will cast their votes at 23 polling centres in all development regions between 10 am and 4 pm. There are 17 candidates ready for the fray.

Advocates Ram Prasad Ghimire, Kul Prasad Dahal, Hari Prasad Phuyal and Satya Narayan Singh are contesting in the eastern region. Advocates Lava Kumar Mainali, Prabhakar Adhikari, Umesh Prasad Gautam and Ram Kishor Mahato are the candidates from the central region.

Advocates Dharma Bahadur Khadka, Krishna Bahadur Thapa and Govinda Poudel are vying for the posts in the western region while advocates Abdulla Ajir Musalman, Jhabindra Prasad Poudel and Krishna

Lal Bhattrai are the candidates in the mid-western region. Advocates Keshav Raj

Joshi, Surya Bahadur Bhandari and Dev

Raj Awasti are contesting the election from the far-western region.
