Bara in grip of diarrhoea

PATHLAIYA: More than 300 people of Wards No 1 and 2 of Ratanpuri VDC in Bara district have been taken ill due to diarrhoea that broke out in the village five days ago.

Majority of the victims are children and women. The victims are undergoing treatment in the local Nepal Rastriya Secondary School buildings after local health post ran out of space due to the surging patients. Junior level health workers have been treating the patients in the classrooms, locals said. Lack of proper treatment and necessary medicines was worsening the situation.

Chief of sub-health post Kishori Yadav informed that they had treated more than 300 diarrhoea patients till now. “We’ve referred seven serious patients to Birgunj for further treatment. However, we’re yet to bring the disease under control,” he added.
