Barhabise-Karthali road being upgraded
Sindhupalchowk, January 12
Blacktopping of the nine-km road section from Barhabise to Karthali which leads to the Falate checkpoint of China has begun.
Mingma Lamu Sherpa, 41, of Karthali, Barhabise Municipality-2 said, “I am more than happy that blacktopping of this road section has begun. I walk for four hours to reach Barhabise Bazaar. After the road is blacktopped, I can reach there in an hour.”
He said, “During elections, many leaders pledged to construct road in my village. I never had expected that we will have the road access.”Likewise, Bikas Lama, 27, of the same village is also elated with the road link to China passing through his village. “I hope that the road will bring a lot of development opportunities for our village.”
Former minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet took the initiative for blacktopping of the road section. He said the project was given top priority that would establish road link to China via Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha.
