Barkhetar accident to be probed

Khotang, April 18

A probe panel has been formed today to investigate the deadly bus accident, which claimed the lives of as many as 24 persons a week ago, at Barkhetar of Khotang.

A meeting of officials of District Administration Office, representatives of political parties, security personnel, human rights activists, bus operators and the families of the victims reached an understanding on forming the panel and posting fair report within a month.

The meeting led by Assistant Chief District Officer Dinesh Kumal formed a seven-member panel, including Armed Police Force, National Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, representative of District Technical Office and Federation of Nepali Journalists and kin of the victims.

They agreed to provide Rs 100,000 for the family of each of the deceased as insurance amount, free treatment of the injured and also help to find out the missing cash and other logistics.

The ill-fated bus en route to Kathmandu from Diktel had met with the accident killing as many as 24 persons on the spot and leaving 31 others injured on Tuesday.
