Teharthum:

The district headquarters of Tehra-thum, Myaglung, and other rural bazaars in the district reopened on Wednesday following two days’ of closure. Local businessmen had shut down Teharthum Bazaar for two days as a mark of protest against the extortion drive of the Maoists.

Following a request by the Tehrathum Chamber of Commerce, business houses and shops downed shutters and a street protest was staged against the Maoists. The Maoists have asked all businessmen to ‘donate’ 10 per cent of their income.
