Bhairahawa, Butwal dengue-prone: Study

Bhairahawa, July 7:

Health experts warned today that Bhairahawa and Butwal of Rupandehi district are prone to dengue outbreak.

A study carried out by health experts of the Kathmandu-based Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) in Butwal and Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district found the presence of dengue-spreading mosquitoes in these areas.

Dr Bindeshwor Yadav of the EDCD said, “The study was carried out to find ways to keep dengue at bay.”

Dengue-spreading mosquitoes could be found in tyres of air-conditioned vehicles and on flower vases made of china clay.

Excessive headache, eyeball pain, backache and vomiting are symptoms of the disease, health experts said, adding that the disease can affect peoples of all age groups.

Dr Jodi Thakur of the EDCD said, “Health workers will be given training on ways to tackle dengue.”
