Bhote Koshi project to be shut for another 3 months

Kathmandu, March 4:

The Bhote Koshi Power Project, which has been shut for over a month, will take three more months to resume operation.

The Sindhupalchowk-based power project generates 15 MW of power in dry season. It stopped power generation nearly a month ago due to major electromechanical problems in two power-generating units, said a press statement issued here by Bhote Koshi Power Company.

“It will take three months to bring the project back into operation,” it said. After unusual noise and vibration in the generator of the first unit in November, tests were carried out in coordination with the Original Equipment Manufacturer in China and Operation and Maintenance Consultants in the USA, the statement added.

The second unit also experienced similar problem and was shut down on February 4.
