Bhutanese refugees’ plea

Damak, May 21:

Bhutanese refugees living in different camps in Jhapa and Morang have urged the Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee, led by refugee leader Teknath Rijal, to work according to a road map and launch a powerful movement for their repatriation.

The committee was formed some months ago to consolidate the movements launched by several Bhutanese refugee organisations to push for early repatriation. The committee, represented by political parties, human rights organisations and representatives of refugees, had decided to initiate a powerful movement to press for unconditional repatriation of all refugees.

Now that the committee has not been able to launch any concrete programme or a road map of its action, frustrated refugees today urged the steering committee for quicker action.
